1. Sex trafficking is: the recruitment, harboring, transportation, provision, or obtaining of a person for the purpose of a commercial sex act. 

2. In Minnesota there are three times more girls who are commercially sexually exploited in one month than there are teen girls who have died by accidents, homicide or suicide in one year.

3. In the United States, Minnesota is one of the top ten states in the sex trafficking industry.

4. The number of girls trafficked in Minnesota jumped 55% from February 2010 to August 2010.

5. Girls are being sold on the streets, at hotels, through escort services and also through the internet.

6. The internet has been a major contributor in the sex trafficking and sexual exploitation of girls, including sites like Craigslist.

7. Girls are first obtained through force or coercion between the ages of 9 to 19 years old.

8. Although more of the crime victims are girls, boys can also be subjected to this form of slavery and involuntary servitude.

9. It is the 2nd largest criminal industry in the world and it is more profitable than selling drugs. 

10. These predators are always searching for their next prey and adapt their means to whatever young people are doing.
